Mandatory Credit: Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports Minnesota United signed forward Kelvin Yeboah to a Designated Player contract on Saturday after acquiring the 24-year-old from Genoa CFC of Italy's Serie A.
Yeboah will remain under contract with the Loons through the 2027 season. The deal includes a club option for 2028.
"Kelvin is an exciting young player that already has vast playing experience amongst some of the best soccer players across the globe along with world-class clubs," Minnesota United chief soccer officer Khaled El-Ahmad said in a release.
"Minnesota welcomes Kelvin, and I look forward to seeing the impact he can make within our club."
Yeboah has recorded 69 points (43 goals, 26 assists) in 181 career matches playing in Europe.
While in Genoa, Yeboah played on loan for three different leagues, most recently Belgium's Standard de Liege. He tallied six goals across 14 appearances after joining the Belgian league in February.
Yeboah said he loved how Minnesota United was presented to him.
"Everyone here has ambitions to win and that's what I want to be a part of," he said.
"I will bring a mentality to never give up and always give my best. Fans will see me on the field playing with passion and screaming and giving my all. My mentality, mixed with my speed, strength and technical ability will help me succeed here in Minnesota. My goal is to influence the game as much as possible, the team as much as possible and give my all to my teammates, coaches and the fans."
Minnesota (9-10-6, 33 points) sits in ninth place in the Western Conference under first-year coach Eric Ramsay. The Loons return from the Leagues Cup break on Aug. 24.
